SPOHP and the UF History Department will be hosting a lecture and book signing by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Rick Atkinson on his latest book, THE DAY OF BATTLE: The War in Sicily and Italy, 1943-1944. The book is the 2nd of Atkinson's Liberation Trilogy. The event will be held in the Ocora at Pugh Hall at 7:00 p.m. Seating is limited; call SPOHP to reserve tickets.

Testimony of War: SPOHP will honor those who braved battles, survived captivity as prisoners of war and put their lives on the line for country and family. Displays in Pugh Hall will showcase war memorabilia and share veterans’ stories of World War II. Audio clips and transcripts of veterans’ experiences will be available to the public. Ceremony and discussions will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Ocora at Pugh Hall on the University of Florida campus.

Paul Ortiz will give a public lecture titled: "Building on Sam Proctor's Legacy: Race, Politics and Freedom in Florida." This lecture is part of the 2008-2009 Sam Proctor Lecture Series, which is sponsored by the Bob Graham Center for Public Service. Prof. Ortiz's talk will be held at the Pugh Hall Ocora at 7:00 p.m.
